My Morning with Martha

What a morning it’s been here in NYC! Martha Stewart just wrapped her live show on blogging.

What a treat it was not only to be in the audience, but to have the freedom to take pictures, live blog and tweet during the show – definitely not the typical “turn-off-your-cell-phone” experience. The audience was filled with bloggers from all over the world who came prepared with Netbooks and iPhones to share their live experience over the web.
The Show featured several guest bloggers – Andrew from Martha Moments, Jeff from My Year of Cooking Fabulously, Chez Pim and the Whatever Girls which include Martha’s daughter, Alexis Stewart. I watched (oooh-ing and ahhhh-ing along the way) as Martha made pad thai with Pim, frosted a cake with Jeff and made yarn cards with Andrew. I learned a few good tips (serve the perfect slice of cake by using a cake knife to remove the second piece of cake you cut rather than the first!)

While I wanted to move into the Martha set (it’s amazing!), eat her food and steal her shoes (yes, they were fabulous YSLs!), I really loved meeting a few of the fabulous Yahoo! Mother Board members in person. How fabulous are Julie Pron, Stacey Ferguson and Jennifer Wagner? Pretty dang fabulous. If only there was more time to socialize between the commercial breaks and clapping prompts! Ladies, I can’t wait to see you again! And for everyone else, you should read their blogs!

I met so many wonderful bloggers this morning that cover a variety of topics – motherhood to gardening, charity to crafting, etc. I have a whole list of blogs to add to my feeds and I couldn’t be more thrilled about this new reading material!
Sadly, two Yahoo! Mother Board members had to back out of the event due to sick kids (you were missed and I hope the kids are getting better.). However, this allowed the opportunity for my own mother (a crazed Martha fan! And, yes she blogs!) to attend the taping. I think this earned me about a million greatest daughter points!!!
So I leave the day with new inspiration to blog, cook and entertain (sorry Martha, crafting just ain’t my thang!), a group of new friends on Twitter and many new blogs to follow.
