I work in the Marketing Department at Yahoo! Canada, bringing Yahoo! to Canadians by working with local teams and those across North America on programs, campaigns and sponsorships. It’s a terrific job. And I get to wear jeans to work everyday. Bonus.
Part of my gig is taking me to the BlogHer conference in Chicago. This will be my crash course introduction into the world of bloggers, despite reading a few blogs and having my own brief (like five posts brief) stint in ’04. I’ve since been inundated with BlogHer blogs, tweets and anecdotal water cooler chit chat about what I should be expecting, doing, wearing and seeing. Her Bad Mother (esteemed host of BlogHer events and fellow Canadian) had a great post about it on Monday.
There will be parties (lots of them!) at this conference – and from the sounds of it, they are essential to the BlogHer experience. I’m liking it already. I’ll be attending the MamaPop Sparklecorn Extravaganza (great name, eh?) and keeping my dance card open to see what else there is going on. I’m thinking the whole event will be something between a sorority rush party and being in kindergarten again – hi I’m Joanne – will you hang out with me, can someone tell me how to get to the bathroom, is it time for snack yet?
